The challenge they want to solve

The sneaker industry significantly contributes to climate change, accounting for 1.4% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Much of this comes from animal leather, which consumes large volumes of water, requires chemical treatment, uses extensive energy and generates around 61 kg CO₂ per m². Moreover, roughly 600 million pairs of shoes are discarded annually, with 95 % destined for landfill due to a lack of recycling solutions.

The impact they have

MoEa's sneakers emit five times less CO₂ than traditional leather versions. Coupled with sustainable materials, local manufacturing and forthcoming take‑back and recycling schemes, MoEa champions circular economy principles and delivers a credible alternative to fast‑fashion footwear. The brand also collaborates with environmental advocates to promote consumer awareness and sustainable habits.

The way we measure it

We measure: CO₂ savings per pair versus industry average; Average CO₂ emissions per square metre of bio‑based material; Progress on certifications; Product recyclability rates and take‑back programme enrolment.
