The challenge they want to solve

Digital payment penetration remains critically low among merchants in Francophone West Africa, with only 10% currently accepting such payments. To collect digital payments, merchants must often juggle four or more different tools and platforms, leading to fragmentation and inefficiencies. Furthermore, over 80% of small businesses lack access to credit due to informal operations and the absence of reliable financial histories. This disconnect between digital infrastructure and merchant realities hinders financial inclusion and limits economic growth.

The impact they have

Jèko aims to accelerate financial inclusion by equipping informal merchants with a simple, unified payment solution. By enabling them to accept mobile money, card, and cash payments through a single interoperable QR code and app, Jèko facilitates digital adoption, financial transparency, and revenue tracking. This transaction history helps merchants access formal credit, supporting long-term business stability and empowering underserved entrepreneurs across Francophone Africa.

The way we measure it

We measure: the number of active merchants using the Jèko platform, the volume and value of transactions processed, and the proportion of users who build sufficient financial history to gain access to credit.
