The challenge they want to solve

In France, educational guidance is often stressful and inadequately supported. Only 4% of high‑school students feel somewhat confident about their future. Guidance typically begins too late, lacks personalisation and is hampered by a shortage of school advisers (approximately one counsellor per 1,500 students). This leads to misinformed choices, frequent course changes, academic failure and high socio‑economic costs. Annually, 37% of university students repeat a year, while 25% change programme — costing public institutions up to €4 billion and resulting in lost revenue of around €8,000 per vacant place.

The impact they have

Edumapper provides a comprehensive, transparent database of secondary and higher‑education programmes, enabling users to compare options by interest, entry criteria, quality and career outlook. By democratising access to reliable, structured information and interactive tools, Edumapper reduces misdirection and dropout, promotes equal opportunity and boosts higher‑education graduation rates. It also improves the fit between students and institutions, enhancing recruitment and retention.

The way we measure it

We measure: Number of students who secure a suitable course via Edumapper; Reduction in misorientation rates; Improved diversity in school applications; Engagement levels with features (course comparison, live events, career tools); Institutional satisfaction with student suitability; Proportion of students from under‑represented backgrounds benefiting from the platform.
